The harsh reality of the mortal human existence is that all will suffer in varying degrees either mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually. Suffering cannot ever be escaped in our lives but acceptance of our suffering as the teacher on our life path is the path to ending our suffering.
Suffering cultivates within in us many fruits of the spirit. The process of overcoming suffering cultivates empathy, resilience, self empowerment, kindness, compassion, love, persistence, determination, and applied faith,it creates character and helps us grow spiritually. Sadly many commit suicide when the suffering becomes unbearable and they lose the light of hope.
Suffering is the heroes journey and can actually be welcomed when we adopt the mindset of asking what the situation is teaching us.
Many souls have had terribly traumatic life experiences but have risen out of the ashes of darkness and despair to be great leaders and positive influences in society throughout history.
Often suffering is manifested by an untamed mind and uncontrolled desires as Buddha stated in the four noble truths.
When we realise that our suffering originates from our thoughts, and that we, as spiritual beings, are not the suffering itself , the liberation and true freedom from suffering arises within.
It is in the overcoming and surrender in acceptance to suffering that liberation and self realisation arrives.
Personally I do not understand why god created suffering such as wars and disease etc but without suffering their would be no heroes journey and the development of the qualities outlined above.
Noone desires or chooses suffering, all desire and long for peace, security, safety, freedom, and ultimately to be loved.
Suffering cannot be escaped as a mortal and nonacceptance of its reality only creates more suffering.
Suffering is part of the perfection of the creators design intention for our soul paths whilst in earth school, crazy and painful that life can be for our lifes.
The truth is , you are not the suffering itself but the awareness of suffering arises and presents itself to you.
Much suffering comes from our expectations and desires from life being unfulfilled.
